Children’s Mental Health Awareness

Approximately 90,000 children are affected by mental health challenges in Nebraska and The Family Run Organizations of Nebraska and its affiliate family organizations have made this issue a priority by recognizing Children’s Mental Health Awareness week each May.

Local and statewide Family-Run Organizations partner with The Family Run Organizations of Nebraska for Children’s Mental Health in order to join forces to increase awareness and provide educational opportunities across the state in May by joining more than 1,000 communities across the country and all the counties in Nebraska in celebrating the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) National Children’s Mental Health Awareness.

The mission is to raise awareness about the importance of positive mental health from birth.

The Family Run Organizations of Nebraska partners with the Eagles Riders to coordinate a statewide Pony Express Ride. This event, which kicks off in Scottsbluff, NE, consists of bikers from various organizations, as well as concerned community members that ride across the state, picking up letters of support from families and young people, with a final destination at the state capitol to deliver the letters to the Governor on June 2nd.

These event(s) focus attention on the importance of providing comprehensive, community-based mental health supports and services to enhance resilience and nurture social-emotional skills in young children from birth.

Join us in May 2017 to help raise awareness about children’s mental health! Our theme is “Partnering for Hope and Healing.
